Marcus Rashford's Tattooed Shirt Numbers: 14 and 9

Marcus Rashford has found room for two more numbers on a body already written in ink and history.

The Manchester United forward has added 14 and 9 to his collection of tattooed shirt numbers, according to Manchester-based tattoo artist Dale McGovern, sitting alongside the familiar 39, 19 and 10 already etched into his skin.

Each number tells a story. Each one marks a phase of a career that has already stretched far beyond Old Trafford’s touchlines.

Number 14

The new 14 is a nod to Barcelona, the club where Rashford made his first move abroad. He wore it there while helping the Catalan side to a La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup, a short but decorated spell that pushed him into a different footballing orbit. That number now lives permanently with him, long after the medals were lifted.

Number 9

Then there is 9. The classic centre-forward’s mark. Rashford used it at Aston Villa, leading the line in claret and blue before circling back to Manchester and reclaiming the same digit on his return to United. It has become the fourth shirt number he has worn for his boyhood club, a symbol of his evolution from wide forward to central figure, literally and figuratively.

From 39, the academy graduate breaking through. To 19, the rising star. To 10, the marquee attacker at the heart of United’s plans. Now 14 and 9 are stitched into that narrative, a permanent record of the stops along the way.
