James Maddison Returns for Tottenham vs Everton Clash

James Maddison is back in the frame for Tottenham’s clash with Everton, with Roberto De Zerbi confirming the playmaker is ready to return after a brief spell on the sidelines.

The midfielder has missed the last three games in all competitions with a shoulder problem, a frustrating pause for one of Spurs’ key creative outlets. Medical staff have now cleared him to be involved, handing De Zerbi a timely boost as the schedule begins to tighten.

Injury Updates

The news is less positive for Dejan Kulusevski. The Swede will stay out of contention, having not trained over the past week. After more than a year out with a knee injury, he had only just stepped back into training before suffering what the club regard as a minor setback.

“No, Kulusevski is not working with us the last week,” De Zerbi said. “It’s not a big problem. It’s a normal problem.”

The message is clear: concern, but no panic. Spurs will not rush him.

Mykhailo Mudryk is also unavailable. De Zerbi described his latest issue as a “stupid injury”, the kind of avoidable knock that irritates coaches precisely because it interrupts momentum at the wrong time. With Mudryk still rebuilding after a long spell without regular football, Spurs are taking a cautious route with his recovery.

“It was a stupid injury for Mudryk, but we hope he will be back soon,” De Zerbi added. “It’s a normal process when a player has not played in a long time.”

So Maddison returns, Kulusevski waits, and Mudryk is handled with care. De Zerbi’s Everton plans will turn on how quickly that first name can rediscover his rhythm.
