John Mousinho's Fury Over Fan Incident Involving Krystian Bielik

John Mousinho has revealed he was “absolutely furious” at the position he found himself in after commenting on an incident involving Portsmouth’s Krystian Bielik and a supporter during the win over Cardiff City.

Late in the second half at Fratton Park, with Portsmouth closing out victory, Bielik went to retrieve the ball from the stands. What should have been a routine moment turned ugly. The Cardiff defender became involved in a physical confrontation with a fan, an incident that immediately drew the attention of players, officials and, soon after, the police.

Hampshire Police later confirmed they had opened an investigation into what they described as an incident “in which a teenage boy was reportedly the victim of a common assault”.

In the immediate aftermath, Mousinho apologised to Cardiff’s players and condemned the behaviour of the supporters involved. Those comments, he now says, were made without having seen the incident himself.

Speaking on Wednesday, ahead of Portsmouth’s fixture against Charlton, Mousinho explained that his original reaction came solely from the information relayed to him at the time.

“I've now seen the footage and my comments post-match were entirely based off what I was told,” he told BBC Radio Solent.

“When the altercation kicked off I couldn't see it from where I was myself, the referee then spoke to us and his words at the time were very clear that he had seen the incident in its entirety.

“He said that as Krystian went over to get the ball, the fan slapped him, and a second fan threw a ball at Perry Ng's head.”

That version of events shaped Mousinho’s post-match stance. The footage, and the ongoing police investigation, now sit at the heart of a flashpoint that has dragged a matchday flash of anger into a wider debate about player safety and supporter conduct.
