Gabriel Jesus stands at the centre of one of the window’s most intriguing late stories: still an Arsenal player, still Massimiliano Allegri’s first choice, and now training on his own while Napoli wait for the door to open.
Allegri’s No. 1 Target
Napoli’s search for a striker has drifted through several names, but the focus keeps snapping back to one: Gabriel Jesus. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that, despite parallel talks over other forwards, the Brazilian remains Allegri’s preferred signing to lead the line.
That preference has survived a sluggish market, internal reshuffles and the slow unravelling of Napoli’s attacking department. Allegri wants a mobile, technically sharp forward who can knit attacks together and press from the front. Jesus ticks every box.

"It's something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment and the way we're managing that kind of situation individually with all the players – they have some personal situations," Arteta said.
He also made it clear that the communication channels with Jesus remain open and honest.
"Yes, for sure (he's spoken to Jesus). Those conversations go both ways, but I'm very satisfied with how these conversations went because I know what is in each other's hearts.
"The words that come through in those conversations make me really happy. It's inevitable at some point you need to have certain discussions and say certain things that sometimes are tough."
The message is calm, but the reality is stark: a senior forward, out of contract next year, training alone in the final days of the window. That rarely ends with nothing happening.
Napoli Wait, Arsenal Push
There has been another complication: Jesus himself. Previous reports suggested he was hesitant about a move to Napoli, and there is no clear indication yet that his stance has softened.
Napoli, for their part, have had to clear the decks before making a serious play. Earlier this month, optimism rose when Fenerbahce struck a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from the Italian club. That move was seen as the first major exit needed before Napoli could fully commit to a pursuit of Jesus.
The momentum stalled. The market dragged. Timelines slipped.
Arsenal, though, are under no illusions. With Jesus’ contract running down and just a year left on the deal, this window is their last realistic chance to secure a significant fee. The club appear ready to cash in, and the final days of the window are exactly when these kinds of deals tend to ignite.
Napoli still see him as the ideal solution. Arsenal see him as a sale they almost have to make. Jesus, training alone and weighing his options, sits between those two realities.
