Carrarese Sign Ex-PSG Full-Back Colin Dagba
Carrarese have made a statement move for a club fighting to find its feet in Serie B, snapping up former Paris Saint-Germain right-back Colin Dagba on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old arrives after leaving Belgian side Beerschot on July 1 and has signed a long-term deal running until June 30, 2028. Built into that contract is an automatic extension clause, triggered if he hits specific performance targets. It is a sizeable commitment from a club sitting in the bottom half of the table, and a clear sign they see Dagba as more than a short-term fix.
For the player, it is a reset. Once tipped as a long-term option for PSG and capped at France Under-21 level, Dagba now steps into Italian football with a point to prove and a career to relaunch.
Carrarese did not hide their enthusiasm when announcing the deal, underlining both his pedigree and profile. They highlighted his attacking instincts, stressing his pace and ability to drive forward from the flank, describing the 1998-born defender as a full-back with “impressive attacking ability, pace, and prowess in attacking play.”
They were just as keen to stress that he is not a luxury player. The club underlined his concentration and reliability without the ball, noting that he remains “consistently alert and consistent in defense, especially in marking.” For a side that has already shown vulnerability early in the campaign, that balance of thrust and discipline will be central to why he has been brought in.
Dagba’s CV stands out at this level. He made 77 senior appearances for PSG across all competitions, including seven in the Champions League. In Paris, he collected three Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France wins and two Trophee des Champions triumphs, sharing a dressing room with some of the game’s elite and operating under the pressure that comes with it.
Loan spells at Strasbourg and Auxerre followed, broadening his experience and exposing him to different systems and expectations. Now, that background drops into a very different environment: a Serie B club trying to steady itself and climb away from early trouble.
Carrarese have taken just one point from their first two league fixtures and sit 14th in the table. Performances have lacked rhythm, and the defensive line has needed leadership and clarity. Dagba’s arrival is designed to stiffen that right flank, add an outlet in transition, and inject top-tier know-how into Gabriele Cioffi’s back line.
The timing could hardly be more pointed. Dagba may be thrown straight into action when Carrarese host Empoli on September 5, a matchday-three fixture that already carries weight. A home game, against a side with its own ambitions, offers a sharp early test of his readiness and of how quickly he can translate his experience into influence.
For Carrarese, it is more than just a new signing. It is a bet that a defender forged in the glare of the Parc des Princes can change the mood of a season still in its infancy.
